The 3th Open Championship in Freediving BELGRADE 2009
News - Competition-Reports
Beograd 2009 - STAOn Saturday, 21st of February, at “TEK” Sport’s center in Veliki Crljeni (near Lazarevac) 3rd Serbian Open Championship in Apnea “Belgrade 2009” was held. Despite bad weather, we had guest competitors from Slovenia, Croatia, Monte Negro and Hungary, as well as large number of competitors from Serbia. The competitors were transferred from the meeting place near “TASMAJDAN” Sport Centre to Veliki Crljeni by bus of “LASTA” Transportation Company from Belgrade. Judges team of four International “E Level” AIDA judges and four National AIDA Judges worked flawless. Safety of competitors was overlooked by team of 10 safety divers, as well as medical team supplied with oxygen first aid kit.
Beograd 2009 - STATiredness, cold and great desire to overcome personal limits resulted in number of red cards, but we hope that experience and education in future will contribute to lessen the number of disqualifications. Polite hosts did their best to provide all that the competitors needed during competition, and also for media representatives to cover the event. Competitors gave all the best, and made some really nice results. Large number of competitors, many of which competed for the first time, and the commitment of  everyone from organization and support team, contributed to great atmosphere during all competition, but also later on during supper and awards ceremony.
We hope that You had good time, and to see You again soon!
Darija Subotin, President of AIDA Serbia
Goran Colak Worth mentioning is that the best male competitor was Goran Colak, who again achived excelent results. Three gold medals marked his first places in Static Apnea (7’02“), Dynamic without fins (136m) and overall result. Beside him, other competitors from Croatia achived noticable results. To achive First place as the Team, with 337,8 pts, results of Domagoj Jakovac and Magda Milas contributed, and Magda was the best female in Dynamic without fins.
Jelena Rankovic - NR u DNFSpeaking of records, new Serbian national record in Dynamic without fins (for female) cannot be left out – it was brought to us by young competitor from Lazarevac, Jelena Rankovic. With result of  81m, she beated the old record of  74m held by Tijana Zunic. Considering that this was Jelena’s first AIDA competition, we have reason to expect further great results and new records.

Miha PribosicMiha Pribosic, competitor from Slovenia: “All considered, competition was nice. Pleasant hosts, nice socialization, solid organization. Only complaint is (of course) the swimming pool and especially toilets. The complex is just not suited for competition at this level. Maybe the dinner was to be organized in more “domestic” restaurant. :) "
Melinda BogdanovicMelinda Bogdanovic, cameraman: “In the name of filming crew, I especially want to thank the organizers, which used maximum efforts to supply us with everything that we needed. I must emphasize the difficulty to provide  the whole day at swimming pool, just for competition, and create conditions for unobstructed work, and also the peace for the competitors, which must be appreciated."
Milivoj PeruskovicMilivoj Peruskovic, organizer and competitor: “This was my first competition, as organizer and as competitor. Experience which I gathered during last two months of organization, and especially yesterday during competition is of great importance in my further engagement in this sport. My pinion is that everything was very good, but as we always want more and better, I hope that next year competition will be even better."
Darija SubotinDarija Subotin, president of AIDA Serbia and competitor: "Everybody was very friendly, polite, but professional. Organization was good, but the complex itself really didn’t meet the standards that all of us is accustomed to. I heard complaints that competitors weren’t given their fruit and sweets, so some of  them were left empty handed… :) All in all, except for some minor oversights everything run smoothly... Considering that this  years organization involved a lot of new people, next year we can expect even better competition."
Goran Radisavljevic, competitor: “I can say thank you for organizing, in this times one shouldn’t require too much, it is important to organize (competition) and  to have enough enthusiasts to see this thru. THANK YOU.”
